Mr. Apañada is currently Southeast Asia Lead of global think tank World Resources Institute (WRI). His more than 15-years’ experience in the clean energy space includes critical involvement in 15 MW of successfully commissioned own use RE projects along with securing 50 MW of RE service contracts in the Philippines and successfully developing the first bank-financed solar projects in the market. He is also the Convenor of the Greening the Banks initiative, an ASEAN-wide green finance platform, and the Country Lead of the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator, an innovative international public-private partnership jointly led by Allotrope Partners, World Resources Institute, and the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory that unlocks clean energy investment across commercial and industrial sectors in seven countries.

  • Graduate and Scholar of the “GREEN BANKING” Training by RENAC AG, funded by the German International Climate
    Initiative (IKI) supported through the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear
    Safety (BMU).

  • Graduate of “TRAIN THE TRAINERS” Programme by RENAC AG in Berlin, Germany (2018).

  • Internationally recognized expert on Philippine Renewable Energy Policy and Regulatory Landscape, including Feed-in
    Tariffs, onsite power generation, Net Metering, and incentives programs.

Key Competencies

  • A certified Green Finance Specialist, Mr. Apañada is pursuing his MBA with Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin and finished a certificate course on Sustainable Finance at the University of Oxford's Smith School of Enterprise and Environment in the UK.

  • As an independent Green Finance Consultant, Mr. Apañada advises investors, banks, companies and developers in their finance plans and feasibility of receiving green financing - equipping them with the required knowledge needed about permits, requirements, as well as the legal framework. Acknowledging the complexity of both the energy sector and financial management, Mr. Apañada has made it his mission and advocacy of sharing the skills required for sustainable development goals, tackling climate change, as well as increasing investments in renewable energy

  • On the public advocacy front, Mr. Apañada is the Convenor of the OurEnergy2030 coalition, a next-generation coalition of youth, local governments, business startups, and healthcare professionals for a responsive and inclusive energy transition in the Philippines and beyond.
